Get to Know Parks People

This publication is here to promote information and point up stories about how places like parks and greenways influence the communities that surround them. Along these lines, I share lessons from advocates, organizers, and scholars who create meaningful change in their world by engaging with the politics of public space. My hope is that readers gain knowledge, share experiences, and are inspired to take action with others to better their communities.

Parks People means two things to me:

  • I believe public parks and greenspaces should serve the greater good, and they should be planned with residents and their environment as their first priorities. So, I advocate for parks FOR people.

  • I also think that no matter who they are, individuals have power to influence their parks and the governments that oversee them. With more citizens recognizing the opportunities that come with green space planning and modification, we can build a strong network of park advocates, or Parks People, who take action to strengthen our civic and natural environments.

I am grateful you are here, and I hope to hear from you as we continue this journey together. Please subscribe and participate often. Your voice matters here!
